    What a let down!

After hearing so many good things about this place I decided to go. I ordered the "pub burger" and my wife ordered the roasted half chicken. The burger was plain and flavorless(meat ,lettuce, bun), the side of onion relish was very good. The half chicken was plain and a little undercooked. The chicken came with warm bread salad which is lettuce with chunks of bread in it. The place looks great and is in a great location. It might be good for drinks but skip the food.

A shining star on the Melrose strip

One of the best burgers I had in recent times was last night at the Village Idiot. The "Pub Burger," a medium rare beauty, with balsamic onion relish, a slice of manchengo cheese, butter lettuce and the most delicously crispy hand-cut fries. The burger has a grilled, peppery-smokey flavor that just explodes in your mouth with every bite. I can't wait to go back and try the Leek and Goat Cheese Tart, with shaved fennel, and citrus vinaigrette. Or the classic steak and potatoe pie. They plan on offering breakfast in the near future, so keep your eyes open for that. They have a small selection of draft beers, but would have liked to have seen a larger selection of those. They have a couple of local beers, the Poppyfield Pale Aje from Craftsman Brewing Co in Pasadena was very good and, of course, they have Boddingtons and Guinness on tap.
