The Tasting Kitchen

Small portions of ridiculous uninspired food that's priced outrageously. Lovely atmosphere and decent wine list. I spent over $200 for a dinner for two. The food was more appetizing than it appeared, but $50 for some burned squid was a huge disappointment. The staff refuses to recognize the shortcomings of the menu. It's unfortunate because the atmosphere is lovely and I believe there is some potential in there somewhere. Long story short, if you have a couple hundred bucks to drop on a snack then go. If you prefer leaving a restaurant satiated then I would not recommend this place. I will not go back nor will I recommend it to others. This place is full of hipster hype but had very little substance to support the hype. I'd rather eat Del Taco :/ also, they delete negative reviews on yelp that's why I'm here. Classy, I think not.

I was excited about this place because the chef was up for the Food and Wine 2011 award. I had looked at the menu online and found it cool, sort of covered in chicken scratch notes, and was expecting a low key and delicious meal. What I found upon arrival was an incredibly elegant interior which was incongruous with the casualness of the menu. The servers were cool kids in hipster gear, the clientele stuffy Beverly Hills types. The Pastas were bland, the Egg Crostone was to die for. Definitely glad i went, but wouldn't go back unless i were invited...
