Sometimes I eat too much meat which I enjoyed at the time, but now I need to detox. That's when I go to Shojin. There are absolutely no meat products. The food is pure, no additives, with food products that are easy to digest and cause minimum disruption to the body. The staff is amazingly friendly and courteous if you give them the signal that you are interested in interacting with them. Otherwise, they will try to create tranquility around you. Eating there for me was a form of meditation where you savor the organic, wholesome nuances of the food. However, if you feel that a meal is not a meal without MEAT, don't go there unless you are feeling very open to new experiences. It's a really cool space.
