Pound per pound and bite and after delicious bite, I am never disappointed. The salads are really fresh too and delicious also-try em' they won't let you down. I even order from Phillips for Holidays. Helps free up time. Everybody loves bar-q especially when (we) don't have to shop, prepare it, then cook and clean up afterwards. Check em' out you'll be pleased and your tastebuds will thank you.

I was on my way to a friends family picnic and needed to find something to take. I got off the freeway at Crenshaw and saw Phillips Take Out BarBQue. I love good barbecue and so I stopped to pick some up. I ordered a rack of Baby Back Ribs and asked for the sauce on the side. My experience with barbecue is that if it's cooked properly, the sauce is not necessary to experience the real flavor of the smoked meat. The order taker told me that it would cost an extra quarter to have the sauce on the side. I said "no problem". When I got to the picnic and opened the package the bones were covered with sauce and I say bones because there wasn't much meat on them bones. The would have been really dry and almost tasteless with out the sauce, which I didn't really care for either. I would never go back to that place but am always ready to try a new barbecue restaurant, I have found several really great ones in Southern California, this one was a disappointment.

was in LA for family visit wanted try calif vs texas bbq so i tried Phillips ribs was good,the brisket was tough,sausage was dry and the sauce was to thick ,also dont try the hot take away from the favor over all i give it 3.5 out of 5.0 you do get your money worth , but if you are ever in Houston ,try our bbq falling off the bone and tender that mother's LOVE

I was raised in Los Angeles, went to Bethune and Fremont , I have been to 36 of the United States, including Texas, Georgia, New York, Mississippi. to name a few and I now reside in Lafayette,La, and can't nobody do que like Phillip's, trust me I know, whenever I return to L.A. on my frequent visits, I must visit Phillip's on my first day, beleive me you guys are the best in the nation, keep on doing what you doing because you doing it right, you are truly blessed.

Hands down, you come to Phillip's for the food. Period. No atmosphere to speak of. These folks are about the meat. Love the half/half sauce (medium hot). Could sop it up with just plain ole white bread. That's coming from someone who ONLY buys whole grain bread. The ribs are to die for. Meh, don't get the chicken. Save yourself for the beef. And links. The greens are dense and smoky good. If you have a hankering for dessert, a slice of red velvet will do the trick. I've had plenty of rv, and their version is in my top 5. Oh, do I hear my arteries hardening? Ah well.

Here is the one taste test for great BBQ, try it without the sauce, if the meat is seasoned to perfection, no sauce needed. YOU DON'T NEED SAUCE AT PHILLIPS! The meat is tender, smoked and seaconed to perfection. Take my tip, get the sauce on the side, you will be very happy you did. P.S. the sauce is great too, I just like savoring the flavor of the meat!

Best b.b.q. short end ribs, chicken and chicken links in Los Angeles. I learned fast that it is best to call your order in before going even though you still have to wait in line to pay. However, your order will be packaged and ready. The only draw back is that they don't have a phone-in order line but it is worth the wait.
