    Paddington's is sleazy

I recently went for a friends birthday to Paddington's Tea Room in Beverly Hills. We went at 4:00 on a Saturday afternoon and not a single other person was there. The average age of our group was about 20, and they treated us with an according lack of disrespect that was not warm or welcoming. While the atmosphere was nice enough, the manager was slow to help us, despite the fact that we were the only people in the restaurant. For the tea deal we opted for, which cost $25 a person, the tea room only offered one type of black tea. The food was good, primarily the sandwiches and pastries, but not exceptional. The man serving us, who I also believe is the manager of the tea room provided service that was detrimental to the whole experience. Our final bill was $35 a person, which was pretty pricey for tea. Later on, I realized the tea room had charged my card twice, which two separate transactions of $35--I had only signed on one of those transactions. When I called to figure out the double charge, the manager told me that it was my responsibility to find all the people I had tea with and figure out if one of them did not get charged, because that was the only way he would have double charged me. I understand that mistakes are possible, but it is how a restaurant or business reacts to them that makes the difference. He did not refund the charge, so I had to do a lot more work to resolve the issue. Overall, I would say that, instead of going to Paddington's, go to another tea place in the LA area. You will likely get a better bang for your buck and better service.
