Authentic Italian Food
Portions on the small side, but more than made up for buy the quality and authenticity of the ingredients. Lovely space in so so neighborhood. Service was attentive without being smothering. Only (mild) complaint was $20.00 corkage fee. $15. would be a much better fit. Antipasti were excellent. Especially the Arugula, prosciutto, and pickled raisins dish covered with a sunny side up egg. Pasta and amazing thin crust Pizza dishes were also of very high quality. A real find and well worth searching out. Two blocks from Paramount studios. Reasonably priced dishes.

Excellent find in LA
My family and I recently had our first visit to Osteria La Buca. We don't live especially nearby, but I am sure our visit will be the first of many. The food was incredible and authentic. (I have some basis for my opinion regarding the authenticity of the food, as I lived in Italy for nearly 12 years.) But more than excellent food, this restaurant offered us unparalleled warmth in its service and atmosphere. The servers were so kind, and so attentive. And the restaurant itself is one of the most beautiful I've encountered in LA.

Utterly Embarrassing
Utterly embarrassing---11/23 Reservation 8:30 pm We had been looking forward to the expansion of this great quaint restaurant expecting the service AND food quality would carry over into the new digs. Unfortunately what we just encountered tonight was a major disappointment that will go into our books as the worst service experience in Los Angeles in 10 years. Start with a maitre' d that refused to give us a table for 2 with ample window views because '..they were expecting someone'. The table remained empty for the duration of our dinner. No water and no bread baskets were offered and/or brought to us until we requested them. As we're starting on our 3rd wine glass, almost every waiter on the floor had been sent our way to ask us to place our main course order to which we kindly refused to do and tried to go back to having a relaxed drink and conversation. But the most astonishing and embarrassing antic on their end was the refusal to 'split' a main course pasta dish that we decided to share as an appetizer with the excuse that 'Mamma was too busy in the kitchen'. Now, we really don't know if the so-called 'Mamma' even exists or if she's a 'marketing element' but we ended up having to 'split' our own appetizer while half of the tables around us remained empty. Either 'Mamma' was taking care of some large catering order or she was hitting the 'Chianti' too hard but we did not see any evidence of the so-called 'Busyness' that we were told about. Once my pizza came to the table, it was served on one of those re-usable metal serving plates with no 'stand' and no plates in sight. We really don't know how much money they spent on their expansion but one thing is for certain, they will not have the benefit of our patronage from this point on and we will certainly make sure we share this story with as many of our restaurant-loving friends as possible. Unfortunate and sad. Cheers. Filippo!! Please take care of this and better train your staff.

LA's best Italian secret!
This is one of my favorite Italian restaurants ever! The food is pretty cheap and it is the most authentic Italian food I have found outside of Rome and Florence, probably because the restaurant is owned and run by a woman from Rome and her sons. The bread and pizza crust is all handmade on site, and they also have a selection of homemade pastas as well. I highly recommend this place!
