    downhill fast

The last time I visited Off Vine was years ago. It was a pleasant visit with food, if not memorable, was good enough that I don't remember it badly. However, this past Saturday afternoon, stopping in for a late lunch with two friends, I was horribly disappointed. The menu was limited. The presentations, when our orders did arrive were sloppy. The condiments were never delivered as requested with order and then additionally twice thereafter. A breakfast pasta was passable, though a bit soggy....rather a doughy version of an angel pancake with vegetables and egg. A spinach salad, listed as accompanied by lamb and wild mushrooms, came piled high with very large spinach leaves. Bad enough the spinach was not washed thoroughly, but the leaves were tough and the stems (which on that size leaf should have been removed) were even tougher. The lamb, what few pieces there were, was cold, tough and so overdone it was the color of rain-soaked mud. The mushrooms (all shitake) had the tough and inedible stems still attached. The dressing which came with it was so spiced with wasabi it was bitter. A hamburger, though decent, was to come with french fries. There were three. For the price......it was robbery. For the taste it was barely passable. For the quality, so very poor. Too bad.
