Unique menu in a great space

My wife and I were in town from NYC recently and wanted to avoid Sunset and other hyped areas. This place was a real find. The restaurant has a really interesting decor. Hip but not overly trendy. The waiter sat us in the back where there is an outdoor garden. You can't go into the garden, but it provides a great backdrop. The chairs were very comfortable. The waiter was well informed, extremely attentive and very cordial. The house mojito comes in its own shaker - that you (or the waiter) pour. It wasn't the best mojito - less sweet and minty than most - but very refressing. I refilled my rocks glass about 5 times from the one shaker - a pretty cool idea. The menu selection is really great. The chef combines some traditional fare with interesting and pleasing results. We ordered the Lobster Mac & Cheese as an appetizer because we wanted to try it - but we also wanted to sample some other entrees. It was a unique approach to mac & cheese with little chunks of lobster innermixed (not too much lobster, just enough to be different). I ordered the filet mignon which was really good. My wife ordered the fried chicken upon recommendation from our waiter (she normally would never order it). Even though we chose 2 of the more straight-forward entrees on the menu, they were really good. Their desert selection is just as unique as the rest of their menu. Overall I would totally suggest this place. Pricing was resonable considering the enviroment, quality of food and service. I was quite impressed - having had a number of sub-par dining experiences in LA that were supposed to be great. Check it out. . .

    Good drinks & vibe

A nice classy joint with nice drinks (mojitos served by the shaker - 2 -3 glasses worth), interesting desserts and a cool lounge-like atmosphere. Happy hour every day (weekends too) from 6-8pm.
