    Excellent

Tuna Box is the best ever and yellow tailed sashimi is like eating a candy bar. Well worth it.

    Great neighborhood sushi

My husband and I have been eating at Nagao for years and we love it! It's the best sushi restaurant on the west side of Los Angeles. The fish is so fresh that it just melts in your mouth. As with all sushi on the west side it's a bit pricey but well worth it. Great neighborhood feel. The ambiance is very simple and straight forward. The sushi is AMAZING!

    Better

This place has fantastic sushi. Huge rolls (you can barely fit them in your mouth) and amazing salads. Relaxing, cozy yet bustling atmosphere with polite service. Always packed, so get there early if you can.

    This place sucks

This is one of the poorest sushi bars in all of Loa Angeles. The service is subpar. Many of the rolls are made with mayonnaise. And the atmosphere is cramped. It feels as if the sushi chefs and the waitresses can't wait for you to get out of their space. As if you're presence is a bother. It doesn't matter if you're young, old, asian, white, man, woman. You're disliked no matter what. Additionally, the fish is only moderately fresh and many of the "signature" rolls are made with Nagao's "secret" sauce, AKA slightly altered mayonnaise.

    Best of the Best

Food has always been wonderful. I wouldn't go anywhere else. Trust Nagao to have only quality sushi and makes any combo you request (even if sounds strange to anyone else). Pleasant, understated restaurant, with amazing cusinie

    Take Home not recommended

We ordered sushi to go . The sushi was good, but they just threw in cold, fatty pieces of salmon skin into the salmon skin salad. Too much of an effort to put it into the broiler for a few minutes? How unprofessional and uncaring. We'll never order to go from Nagao again.

It's about the food! And it rocks!

Best quality fish in excellent combinations. Let Nagao do his thing, tell him to make recommendations. He'll want be your buddy till he gets to know you, but its worth getting to know him. If you convince him you really like to eat, then its on. Try the Moonlight #2. Have a "Soybean Roll" with your choice of fish. His Albacore (sushi or sashimi) is the best in town, bar none, and I've eaten at most sushi spots in Los Angeles County ... I'm not kidding. And try the "Lemon Box" it isn't just a beautiful thing, its delicious. Oh, and don't miss the "White Tuna Salad" or the "Calamari Salad" both delicious. Great fresh lettuce with excellent fish and perfect dressing. And if you here the atmosphere ain't great, remember that the food makes up for it. Yum!
