In 1994, I read the Thursday food section and found the most incredible grilled chicken, penne pasta, cilantro, ginger, green onions, Roma tomatoes, garlic and chicken stock recipe that I shared with everyone. In 1995 my husband and I met friends for dinner at the Metro before a Chrissie Hines (Pretenders) concert. My girlfriend and I ordered the grilled chicken pasta. We looked at each other and said, "this is just like the recipe from the LA times. It was wonderful! When I went home, I pulled the out the food section recipe and it was the Metro's dish. Living in Jacksonville, FL now and made your chicken pasta dish for dinner. All my friends and family have been enjoying your chicken pasta for 19 years! It's one of our favorite dishes. On our menu at least twice a month! Thank you so much! Just thought you should know your recipe has gotten around! See you next trip to LA! Cheers! Lisa Marcus

By chance, I stumbled into Metro Cafe a few years ago while I waited for my car to get fixed at the mechanic shop on the same block. I ordered an omelette and knew right away that this place was special. First, the portions of the food was a healthy size. Not like the huge portions you get these days. The food tasted clean, not overseasoned and not super greasy. The menu is simple, but you can taste that they use very good ingredients and cook the food simply but very well. So many restaurants are so focused on creating sexy, fusion, good-looking food. but usually, they look better than they taste. Metro cafe produces high-quality, well-prepared dishes. the prices are very reasonable considering the quality ingredients they use. this is a great place run by really nice people who truly have price in their food and restaurant. highly recommend!
