So I ate at Melisse about, 2 months ago and it was fantastic! On Wednesday there is a deal going on on Preferdine.com ($50 for $100 at Melisse) that I’m really excited for – I love a good deal at a restaurant that I had a good experience with.

I've been here twice, and both times the food was wonderful. Unfortunately, both times the service was not great. Very expensive specials were pushed aggressively with no mention of the price, and when we asked the waiters practically sneered. Still, if price is no object for you, that may not be a problem. Can't complain at all about the food.

Serious food prepared perfectly. The other review mentions kids and crying babies - I think he must be confusing this restaurant with a dream he had. This is an elegant, mature restaurant. If Michelin reviewed LA restaurants *** this would likely get three stars. Get the sweet corn raviolt with truffles. Or lemon egg custard with caviar. Actually, anything on the menu that sounds good to you, will be good. After you've eaten at Joel Robuchon at the Mansion for $350, or Guy Savoy's for more (both in Las Vegas) a hundred bucks (or so, for food only) carte blanche menu at Melisse starts looking like a bargain. My favorite restaurant in Los Angeles.

I had dinner at Melisse last night and sat in the Garden room. What a delightful experience. The staff was extremely attentive, the meal from appetizer, through dessert just extraodrinary. The plate presentations were marvelous. Need I mention the cheese cart and its selections? We felt like royalty with the way we were treated. I would recommend this as one of the best restaurants in Greater Los Angeles and worth every dollar spent.

We went to Melisse the weekend before Valentine's day and had a disappointing experience. It's been almost 6 months and we still cringe at our experience there. First off, the restaurant itself is nice, but there should be some sort of dress code or standard to match the atmosphere. There were babies crying, kids running around and people who thought they were in a club. Fine, maybe it was a bad bunch of guests that the restaurant couldn't control. We ordered the prix fixed menu and really had to fight to enjoy each plate. The waiter came over and offered us a special to 'infuse' truffle into one of the dishes, so since this was a special occasion, we went for it. Well, the waiter then came over while we were eating and shaved 2 pieces of truffle on top and walked away. That was $80. Our total bill was $600, YES, $600, plus, we brought our own wine. While we were eating dessert, the staff started to pack up for home right around us.
