Rude With Just OK Food
This was was my third and last visit to this restaurant. There were 3 of us and asked to be moved to another table on the patio because we were seated on the upper patio near the restrooms and could smell the urinal cakes (really). The only other larger table open was for 5 (there were many for 2). They would not close one of the outside doors or let us have the table for 5. It was 2 in the afternoon and nobody waiting. We sat inside. The table for 5 was never used. Whatever happened to take care of your customers? The silverware was dirty, had to ask for bread 2 times and the staff was grumpy and unfriendly. I ordered the steak sandwich. They waiter came back and said they were out of it... I had the grilled Ahi tuna ... no complaints but wasn't the best meal I ever had. This is the second bad experience I had there. I shall not return.

cute neighborhood restaurant
It was a busy night, but managed a table on the back patio. Our waiter was great his wine & dessert suggestions were perfect. In fact, I think the Tarte Minute (apple on puff pastry w/caramel & ice cream) was the highlight for me. All in all, a cute restaurant with a nice vibe, and in a great neighborhood. Definitely worth checking out.

Disappointed, Rude, Amateur Service
We love French food and especially more casual bistros and have been wanting to try Lilly's for years. All three of us are knowledgeable foodies and wine aficionados. We made a reservation through Open Table for an 8 PM seating last night, Saturday. We arrived on time, but before our friend and told the hostess that we needed a warm table, because it was a cold night. She showed us our table that was in the corner of the covered and tented patio, up against the fence for the parking lot. Plain and simple, this was the worst table in the joint. She had the nerve to tell us that the inside tables were reserved for friends of the owner. We ended up sitting at an isolated table in the bar, which would have been nice, except that it was near the front door, which they all but insisted on keeping open. And a memo to you restaurant workers: you don't tell my wife, or any other patron that the solution to the problem of being cold is to keep your jacket on. We got that rude comment from the hostess and from our waitress who was kind enough to drop by more than 10 minutes after we were seated. The waitress was actually pushy about getting a drink order from us. I asked about the French wines by the glass and the first thing she told me was that they were French. She was a little miffed when I asked to taste a couple, but did return with the smallest splashes of wine I have ever been offered. Maybe I asked for a sniff. Anyway, both wines were awful and since the third wine in the French wine category was noted as "Domestic", I allowed my wife to request a taste of her wine, which was a $14. We love French food and especially more casual bistros and have been wanting to try Lilly's for years. All three of us are knowledgeable foodies and wine aficionados. The waitress actually refused to have the front door closed. The bread was cold and stale. The onion soup was passable. The menu shows that dishes come with veggies, which means about a tablespoon of veggies. So we spent the extra $6 for sides. We quickly learned that to get our used plates removed and next portion silverware, we needed to ask. The food was passable, but nothing special. No, we're not returning. We pay good money to eat well and believe we should not have to ask for good service and civil treatment. If you go to France and expect the French to be rude, you will be disappointed. Save the airfare and be treated rudely at Lilly's.

cute place.....lunch is alright
My BF and I were on vacation and we came here. It's the epitome of what I would think of for a california restaurant: doors welcoming and open to the outside, outdoor seating on the patio in the back, modern design but not stuffy, people relaxing over lunch. However, our waiter was aloof and very unattentive....hopefully he was just training? The hostess ended up bringing out our meals and dessert b/c she saw us sitting there very long. I got the ham and cheese sandwich which was ok...my bf got the omlet which was nothing spectacular. However, our dessert...the chocolate souffle cake was AMAZING!!!! YUM!!! The sauce was phenomenal and the pistachio ice cream complemented the whole dish very well...would recommend this to anyone with a sweet tooth! :) I would come back here...only for the chocolate souffle cake :)
