Pricey for the amount and quality of food. Being from the caribbean, myself, I was disappointed. They were out of peanut punch and callaloo. What kind of restaurant would run out of a menu item.

Today as I was coming from Cedars Sinai Hospital, this restaurant caught my attention. I gave it a try and was soooooooo happy. This is it, I have been looking for good carribbean food for almost a year and found this cute place, everyone speaks with an accent in there it's so charming. I saw one of my favorite tv stars there too, (Will not give any name though)!! Kassava is the place if you are craving some authentic caribbean food. Food is jsut like homemade grandma style IRE!!

I live 2 blocks away from Kassava and make a habit out of walking there at least 3-4 times a month. I'd go more but money is tight. My first time there was their 2nd day open and I fell in love with the place and the food. Vanessa and the others are friendly, engaging, accommodating and just plain nice. The jerk chicken is a favorite and now the smothered baked chicken is as well. Everything is spiced just perfectly and never bland. Even the plantains are good...soft, moist and sweet. I could down the list of foods I've tried there (like the beef, veggie and chicken patties) but that would take too long and I want to get down to the business of eating. (Yes, I ordered the smothered baked chicken and the ginger pineapple cake today. Next time I'm getting a side of plantains!)

I had their jerk chicken, it was excellent !!! prices are low (I had a lunch special at $6.95). I am a dessert person, and the passion mousse is simply Divine! The people are very friendly and the place is very cute . Great experience, I recommend it.

I have tried almost everything on their menu, including the conch stew, and it is excellent. However, the portions are not large enough for the prices though I have only gotten take out. Perhaps they are larger if you eat in. Not much of an atmosphere.
