I live out on the east side of L.A. County and am always looking for a good pastrami joint. I heard a lot about Johnnie's so while on a Sunday drive my wife and I decided to try 'em. I saw that the place was jammed packed so I thought it was a good sign. I ordered two pastramis with fries to go and rushed them home in anticipation to a really good sandwich. That pastrami was so NERVY that I was sure someone had thrown a handful of rubber bands in my sandwich as a joke. I'd take a bite and the nerves would snap back at me!!I have this saying whenever I'm disappointed in a restaurant, "I'm glad I came here, now I never have to come back".

Many restaurants have been around "forever" but that does not equal great food. It's March 2014, and I finally made my way to Johnnie's. Overall, I was disappointed. It may have been a "bad" day for the cook, but I found my sandwich very dry. I was looking forward to biting into my long-awaited pastrami and when I did, disappointment. It tasted OK, but you've got to get that bun soaked, dripping. Two sandwiches, two cokes, an order of fried came to approx. $33. I had to use the ATM in the parking lot to get cash - $40 - and turned the whole amount over to the waitress who gave us good service. It's a one-time trip for me.

The pastrami sandwich are the best. You can make at least 2 or even three more sandwiches from just the one sandwich. The pickles are the bomb!! The fries and onion rings are great with the sandwich. It's best to go when nthey first open up, because they're not busy. If your not in a hurry, go at night and sit outside by the lit firepit.

OMG! This sandwich is the most amazing meat ever. Smothered in flavor. Delicious! Served teaming hot. The smell alone will make you order a second one for later!!

Have been going to Johnnie's for the past 25+ years. Best pastrami's in town. Love the old style counter juke boxes. Fast, great service!! A+

Obviously, it's always a matter of personal taste, but only an fool would NOT recognize the TOP SHELF flavor, and quality of Johnnie's Pastrami once they tried it. There's a reason Johnnie's has been around and successful for all these year. Cheers.

Out of towners welcome, but Johnnie's is a staple for us true Los Angelinos. Been eating here for a long time, and it is one of the things I crave when Im back in town (moved 2 years ago). It has the old school feel, with pastrami that doesnt play around!!
