I am a sushi fan! Been to most sushi restaurants in LA and nothing compares to Jinpachi. I like Jinpachi as much as my favorite sushi place in Tokyo!! This place is a must go!

On vacation, wanted a good sushi takeout place near our hotel. My wife and I had tuna, salmon, yellowtail, and veg rolls. All very good, tasty, very fresh tasting. I just did takeout, so hard to vote on the atmosphere, though it was pretty loud while I waited. But the food was very good.

As a tourist, I was lucky to happen across Jinpachi while browsing for something in the area. I agree with most of the other reviews in that the fish was very fresh and the service was impeccable. As for the price, it really wasn't that bad. I recommend spending more for the Sashimi on the menu as it is the house specialty (instead of generic rolls) and allows the Itamae to show his skills. The crispy rice with spicy tuna and the yellowtail with cilantro and jalapeno are both fantastic.

We have been back to Jinpachi a few time since our first visit and my earlier review. We went again on February 15, 2008 and something was very wrong. The oysters were not of the same quality and were prepared differently. They were okay, but not fantastic as at all our other visits. The plating was now lackluster, and the food was all edible, but it was not of the extremely high quality that we had become used to. The same for the desserts, they were just put together, not d by an artiste, as in the past. We enquired of one of the servers and asked if the regular chefs were on vacation or ill? He replied brokenly that there had been a some sort of a change in the staff. Sadly, it is not a change for the better, and we are seriously considering never returning to what had become our favourite local restaurant. Dinner for one hundred dollars for two persons, no wine - we are not drinkers, can be justified if it is outstanding. Merely acceptable does not rate that sort of spending - especially in this current economy.

We stumbled upon this fantastic Gem of a restaurant by accident. We had gone to the Cake and Art Bakery next door at around seven in the evening to order a cake for an upcoming event. As we left Cake and Art, I asked my husband what he wanted to do for dinner and he suggested we go next door. We did. We had no idea of how wonderful this restaurant was, or of how well regarded it is. The food was FANTASTIC, the best Japanese food I have ever eaten. We ordered the half dozen oysters and the shrimp tempura hand roll. Now, my husband has refused to eat oysters his entire life, but I love them. I tried one and it was the BEST oyster I have ever had. There was some sort of beautifully delicate sauce on it that complemented the fresh oyster to perfection. I told my hubs that he MUST try one, I would not brook a refusal, and he knew that it must be special. He tried one, and then asked me how many more I would let him have. Next the Shrimp Tempura hand roll, freshly made, the shimp still warm, the outside of the tempura crisp, and the cool rice cooked perfectly. The Wasabe and the Ginger that went with it were superlative, as well. I had the Chicken Breast entree with a ginger sauce, and my hubs had the Collar of Yellowtail, both were just fantastic. Next came dessert, my hubs had the chocolate souffle, which was subtle and had wonderful depths of flavour. I had the home made Green Tea Ice Cream.

Jinpachi is by far some of the best sushi i've ever had, aside from being in tokyo. Everything is incredible! the atmosphere, the service, and the food is inovative and incredibly fresh.

Used to go too Hirozen, Yabu, Matsuhitsa, and Nishimura. I haven't been to any of these places since I discovered Jinpachi. The fish is so fresh and it is always amazing. I have taken several friends here and they have become repeat customers as well. I have been going to Jinpachi 2-3 times a week. I think that it is very reasonable for the quality and the atmosphere I don't know why menupages says its so expensive...
