    So annoyed

What happened to my home kitchen away from home? It's been a fixture in the Marina since I was a kid. I loved this place. I loved that it felt so warm and cozy and could go by after watching a late movie, for a slice of pie and a warm cup of chocolate. My husband and I went for breakfast and were so dissapointed. We've only been there once since it reopened and won't go back :( There is nothing in the surrounding area that comes close to the old Nichols :(

So sad you had to change!

Loved the old place which was so yummy and family friendly. Now we have been back once after remodeled and the service was poor and the food was way too expensive. Miss the old food items as well. Not impressed and won't go back.

    So Sad

I've been eating at Nichols for years - it was a favorite place to go with friends, you always knew you'd get great food and the servers were even like old friends...now, it's cold, impersonal, poor service and for all of that, you have to pay even more. Boo Hoo Hoo - so sorry you felt it necessary to "fix" a favorite.

miss our old trusty cozy local eating place

the old nichols, though dated decor (& so what), had its own "charm"= good food, great service, great prices, comfy. We went at least once a week. Since their reopen, we went one time for B'ast which was ok but the lunch/dinner menu choices, big nothing.

    Very Disappointed

Miss the old Nichol's menu. Food was mediocre. New menu trying to compete with hipster restaurants on Abbot Kinney, but falls way short. If I want Truffle fries, I'll go to Chaya in Venice, NOT Nichol's!! Now I have to find a new place for my chicken pot pies, homemade soups, and apple cobbler cravings.

Morning the loss of a friend :(

WoW, My family and friends are morning the loss of a really wonderful place we used to frequent called Nichols. Nichols used to be our neighborhood go to place . We were there at least once a week since it opened, not to mention the nights we called for carry out. Our family couldn't wait for it's remodel to be completed so we could have our place back. I must say it is beautiful inside but it now looks like every other loud minimalist hot spot in LA. Which we could get used to if they had any kind of a menu. Where are the thing they were known for....like their chicken pot pies and soups? I eat out quite a lot and I don't understand the choice to use the same menu for both lunch and dinner. It was as minimal as the new decore. I hope J. Nichols finds it's clientel. I'm sorry it won't be our spot .

    Remodel a success!

I used to go to Nichols when it was a homey diner, now it's a place I would take business associates. Breakfast is fantastic. I've eaten here six times since the remodel. I haven't had lunch or dinner yet. I'm very happy with the new menu and new atmosphere and prices are higher but so is the quality. I think it's just going to attract a new clientele.
