very good
I grew up in The Netherlands where you can find good Indonesian food on every corner. I've lived here for 15 years and just recently I've discovered Indo Cafe and it is the only place in LA where they serve excellent authentic Indonesian food. Anywhere else in LA it doesn't even come close. Even restaurants owned by Indonesian people, such as Ramayana. I love this place and I am picky with Indonesian food.

Disappointing food
I grew up in the Netherlands and Indonesian food is a favorite in the Netherlands. I have lived in the States since 1980 and miss Indonesian food. So when I read the favorable reviews on Indo Cafe, I very much looked forward to eating there. Unfortunately it was disappointing. The Rendang Beef was well-flavored, but a very poor cut of beef. The Ayam Pangang, Indonesian-flavored chicken, again had good flavor but the chicken was dry. The Nasi Goreng, fried rice with scallions, chicken, etc., tasted like it had been flavored with dried soup and fried up. Overall not Indonesian food I would go back for. We were there on a Monday night and parking was fine on a nearby side street. Service was okay.

Excellent Food
I have eaten and ordered take-out from Indo Cafe many times. Their Rendang Beef and Ayam Goreng Chicken are excellent. Rice dishes are very good as well. Everytime we go there, we try at least one different dish and have not been disppointed. The only problem is parking can be frustrating during rush hour. I have parked in the parking lot across the restaurant for pick-up orders, but would not do so if I were to stay for dinner. Later in the evening parking on the street is a bit easier. There's also a cute market across the street (part of the lot) that has a good selection of Asian groceries.
