overpriced and dissapointing
We were kept waiting over 1 hour for our reservation. And then seated near the restroom after the late VIPs were served first The hostess even addmitted that they operate on a "VIP first" basis.. Service was sub-par. Food was just OK. Never going back.

A Truly Tasty Dining Experience
Love this restaurant as it is our favorite! The food, wines, service, atmosphere, ALL EXCELLENT! This is a dining experience which is pricier than "going out to eat" but worth it! You'll come for the good, enjoy the "vibe" and appreciate the service. Also it is a very cool "Hollywood" spot, so come dressed to be "seen"!

You will return
We've eaten at Il Sole over the years about 100 times, and it's always amazing. I'm disturbed about the other review where the guy had a bad experience and felt the food was overpriced. Il Sole has an amazing wait staff, great food (the NY strip is fantastic), and an excellent wine list. Sure it's expensive. Where else are you going to rub elbows with Al Pacino and Robert Pattinson in the same night? Suck it up and pay the bill. We've never had a bad experience.

Not recommended
What a disappointment! Our dinner was subpar and overpriced. The appetizers were greasy. My first entree, the linguine scampi, had to be returned as the langoustine were improperly cooked and the sauce was tasteless. The "special" Dover sole was mediocre at best, for $47 I think I paid for its' flight over the pond. The only redeeming aspect was the somewhat attentive waiter whose attempt to conceal his apathy was, well, pathetic.

Well worth a visit.
Great food, great wine. It's easy to see why this place is so popular with the Hollywood crowd.
