    Great Food -- Okay Service

This is one of my favorite restaurants as far as food goes. It's a bit pricey...however, the portions are large, and the seafood is always fresh. It seems that the portions are getting smaller -- yet the prices are not. My only real 'not so great' comment relates to the service. Although the service is getting better, it's not up to par with the quality of the food. On another note, I don't believe they have live entertainment any more and the bar is very small (probably seats 10). For live entertainment, I'd go to LaLouisianne.

    I love the food

This is my favorite resturant in the entire world . I have traveled the WORLD. In fact I will be in Dublin Ireland this Christmas. I love the Shrimp Ryan and the Fish Platter. The service is always a gamble I have had good to Very poor service, never excellent .They make a lot of money. Management could put some more effort into the decor. It's dated and a little tacky. Drinks are great Overall You will be satisfiedwith the food

    It is pretty special

I have been going to this restaurant for over 15 years. The food is great. Never once have I been disappointed. The people that work there are friendly and the atmosphere is nice. I have always felt welcomed.

I Travel 400 Miles To Eat Here

I live in Northern Calfiornia and my family is in the L.A. area. I can NEVER come home and not make a visit to Harold & Bells. My favorite is the shrimp Ryan, but I always eat from my familys' plates as well. The service is always nice and with the right timing, there is always some celebrity there. I was honored to meet Steve Harvey there last year when I came for my b/day dinner. I have traveled to L.A. just to have dinner there and come home the next day and I'm no movie star, but I LOVE THEIR FOOD and the DRINKS ARE THE BOMB. I could care less about the expense of the food as long as it is GOOD.

    The best in LA

Seriously, this may be my favorite restaurant in the whole world. The jambalaya is AWESOME. File gumbo came with a whole crawdad in it. Fried catfish was tender and slightly salty, piled high. Even the fried oyster poboy was good. Everything was great here. And as for this other guy's review, Ive definitely been the only white guy there and never felt like I stood out at all or felt out of place. The service is good and the atmosphere is extremely welcoming. I cannot imagine anyone feeling uncomfortable in this place. Seriously, try it out.... you wont be disappointed!

    Convinced

We were a party of 8. The service was good. The food was mostly good (the spicy fried chicken is way better than the plain), which was kind of tempurah-ish. The red beans and rice was so nice as were the catfish and the liver and onions. (yeah, I went in everybody's plates) The etouffe and jambalaya could have been better spiced but they cater a bit to an LA (rather than Louisiana palette). Overall I recommend, but bring your credit card, it ain't cheap. But, you know, every other cuisine in the world is allowed to be expensive, why not ours!

It Was Something To Sing About!

Two years ago our choir members, and friends celebrated our Christmas party at Harold and Belle's. Last year we were too late to book our reservation on time, but EVERYONE (about 25 people) is thrilled about going to Harold and Bells again this year! The food was, well, delicious just doesn't seem adequate to describe the experience. In fact, I think someone needs to invent a new word just to describe how good it was! The service was wonderful. There were a variety of "complections" in our party, and we have nothing but high praise for the t"special " treatment we received ~ which Harold and Bells is known to give all their customers. After all, if the service is not A+, the food doesn't matter. Fortunately for us, the food was, well, delicious just doesn't seem adequate to describe the experience. In fact, I think someone needs to invent a new word just to describe how good it was! The atmosphere was cozy. We were able to talk, laugh, and enjoy ourselves to the fullest. The people were warm and friendly and they made us feel as if were a part of the family. If you are in LA and want a taste New Orleans, we highly recommend Harold and Belle's.
