basics are there
Visited for the first time and my first impression is that the Salvadoran basics are good (i.e. tamales and pupusas), but preparation of other "comidas tipicas" like casamiento and yuca con chicharron diverges from the traditional preparation. The menu is missing chilate con nuegados and atol de elote! These are staples in any Salvadoran restaurant. Its good food. No complaints on service or atmosphere. But if you are looking for authentic, diverse and traditional Salvadoran dishes, its really not their specialty.

Love this place!
Absolutely delicious and I love Gloria. She is so helpful and thoughtful and always has the best recommendations. I have had excellent vegetarian meals there and my brother (who is not a vegetarian) swears by their Chicken in mole sauce, which is only served around Cinco de Mayo. Suffice it to say, you'll find us there a lot in May.

Great Salvadorian and Mexican
The Mexican food is really good, but their specialty is the Salvadorian. The Tamales are great and the Pupusas are super. I've been there a bunch of times and both me and my vegetarian spouse are very happy with it and will be back. It's great value too. About $11 for a really big dish and some of the dishes are even cheaper.

i almost hate to share...
My ex introduced me to Gloria's. I was hooked from the moment the friendliest staff greeted us at the door. The place was not crowded, and had a demure, yet very welcoming decor, just enough to be good for both friends and romantic endeavors. The chips and salsa were better than average, and the carnitas- oh my- yummmm. I was worried about super-fatty chunks and the possibility of fighting against cartilage, but no, everthing was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. On another visit, when I asked about other goodies, they suggested the marinated chicken. I can't believe I waited this long to try this! Their meats are tender, flavorful THROUGHOUT, and juicy. I'd suggest getting plates and sharing, which is what I always do. The portions alone are enough for one (& a half, maybe), and their prices aren't that bad, considering their overhead. The service is by the family who owns the place, and service is what can make or break a place for me, no matter what the food is like. So far, so good- I mean, GREAT. Everyone else I've taken has falled in love with the place as well, and are left jonesing for more later... like I am now.
