The atmosphere is not great and there is aways a line, but the food is addicting!

I'm 23 and have been going to Manuel's since I was a little girl, and my mom has been going since she was 16! The burritos are HUGE and they even taste great the next day when you reheat them b/c there's NO way you can finish a whole one by yourself. It's not in the ritziest neighborhood but if you want authentic mexican at a good price, this is the place to go, but be prepared to wait b/c there is always a line.

If you want gooey, cheesy, saucy, and yummy Mexican, in portions big enough to share or take home for a second meal, Manuel's is a definite choice. All choices of meats for burritos or quesadillas or tacos -- I've always craved the machaca, any way -- and nice sauces. Not cheap, but again, the meal size is reasonable compared to cost. Good for take out, reheats well and machaca makes an incredible breakfast the next day. Eat in the small dining room, eat outside or take away. I have found the ordering a little chaotic and am never quite sure I've paid the right amount, but come prepared, figure out what you want, and go for it. Parking lot right next door (which is a great feature) and though the place is busy the turnover is reasonable. Maybe go slightly off hours it you can. I have moved away from L.A. but must go there a couple of times during any trip back and am never disappointed. Not for everybody, probably, but unpretentious types will enjoy it and if that's not you, you'd best stay away and go to someplace fancier. I've never had a bad item there and have tried a LOT of different things. I love it and miss it!

My husband heard great things about this place & was told there is always a line(it's a little place). So one morning we go with high hopes of a great mexican meal. Mistake!!! There was a line..so its got to be good right? WRONG!! The meat in the Chile Verde & Chile Colorado was sooo over cooked & dry it was worse than eating bad beef jerky. The sauce it's in is nothing to brag about either. The prices are reasonable, but when you can't even eat your food it doesn't matter how cheap the meal is.
