My favorite Italian restaurant.
I consider the Drago family the primo family of Italian food in Los Angeles. An excellent meal can be had at any of their restaurants. But for me, the best is Drago, Santa Monica. I start with an amuse bouche of rice and peas, follow that with buffalo mozzarella and tomato salad, then a home made pasta and end with an excellent fish or meat dish. If I crave some sweetness, there is always a tasty confection or cake. The wine list is fairly extensive, a lot of Italian wines, so I ask for help from the maitre d'. Another big plus for me, you can have a conversation among a lively group of people having fun and dining superbly.
