Can you say 'old school'? When I think of Mexican dining, Vega's decor is spot on. Low lighting, booths, dividers, cloth napkins and a full on separate bar in which you may dine if you can take the noise. The obligatory chips and salsa were what they should be: spicy salsa, not the tomato/onion/cilantro throw together offered by so many other eateries. If the salsa is no bueno, it's a tip off of what's to come but Vega got that right. I ordered a basic - cheese enchilada/chile relleno/rice/beans because to give you an unbiased review, I had to go with something one could get just about anywhere. It was tasty but the chile part of the relleno was a tad undercooked. Chiles need to be softened prior to the bake or it's like getting a piece of dry seaweed mixed in with the delish sauce, cheese and egg. BUT, I would come back; the overall experience is positive. I had the house margarita. Good. The service was good however - I am one that, unless you see me looking for you, leave me be. If I have a problem, if I need more sauce or whatever, leave me be. (I and my guest were approached no less than four times during the meal and asked if everything was OK. All restaurant workers need to observe their customers; if they are in conversation, leave them be.) Vega was packed. Every table filled (although I saw no children and it was a pleasure to not have to hear wailing toddlers or dodge such walking to our booth), people waiting outside near valet parking, bar had their party on..."festive" comes to mind. Oh and very casual ... lots of jeans but saw a few suits/dresses. It's a mix and it works. Restroom was clean and stocked, ladies. Next time, I will try one of their specials which will tell us a lot. Vega is likened to the steak houses we love, but Mexican and sans Sinatra. Kiki says yes to Casa Vega.

Have visited every week with family. Hostess dismissive on a regular basis. Likely the same hostess mentioned in the previous review! Continued to come back because our kids like it there. Refused to seat us in the dining room, even though we explained we didn't want to sit in the bar area with our children during "Happy Hour". Hostess insisted we sit in the bar. When walking away from our table she rolled her eyes at us. Hostess proceeded to seat all newly arrived patrons in dining room after we were seated in bar area. When asked about rationale behind her seating arrangements, hostess very rude, would not allow me to speak and most certainly did not offer apology. For that amount of money for "Mexican" cuisine, we should be treated much better. Beware!

I went to meet a friend at Casa Vega. I had eaten there 20 years prior. 20 years ago was a good experience. How ever my experience today was not so good. In a nutshell the food was ok. The atmosphere is nice. The price of the food is fair. However the staff has some problems! In coming into the restaurant you are greeted by a 20 something girl who has an attitude and acts like you are bothing her. While I was waiting for my table she wsa sitting behind her podium texting. She would not let me sit at my table because my friend was not there yet. I wanted a drink while I was waiting but could not sit in the bar area because it was small and packed. Finally sit down at the table and ordered a double Margarita and it came back as a sweet blended fruit drink. There was no tequilla. So I had to ask the waited for an other after that he had an attitude. We ordered another round and it took 45 minutes to get another round. Finally dinner came and he never came back to ask how the food was or if we wanted more drinks. The only considerate person that came by to fill our water glasses and ask how our food was, was the busboy. I think they should make the busboy a waiter and have the waiter stuff tacos in the back. The hostess in the front should go work in bevely hills somewhere so they can apprecite her attitiude. I would never eat here again.!

Way too expensive for the quality of the food. Some of the local small Mexican restaurants have better tasting food for 1/3 the price.

So I don't know what the other reviewers are talking about. The only drawback about this place is the long wait at times. But the food is incredible and surpasses the standards of authentic Mexican food. The atmosphere is dope and the chips and salsa are semi addicting. My boy and I are pretty regular there and we like many other people have waited for about an hour on end to get to the FOOD. The atmosphere just tops it off. Great Food! Bad reviewers Below.
