The Westside: Coastal >

The food may be okay, if genericly cheesy saucy and messy, but the atmosphere is a huge turn off for me. It's very awkward and claustrophobic. There are no windows, and I always feel like I'm eating in a poorly decorated dungeon with chili pepper lights. I have friends who love the place but I don't care for it. I've always found it to be too quiet and too plain. There are other better options to be found with better food and nicer atmosphere in the same price range.

People who have been to Casa Escobar on Wilshire always smile when someone tells them "such and such restaurant has the greatest margaritas". Escobar's margaritas (order the doubles, not on the rocks) are so far superior they're absolutely off the scales. They are laden with alcohol no fillers. Find a designated driver or call a taxi. The atmosphere here is relaxed and comfortable. It's an unusual blend of loud drinkers and families. That sounds like a formula for disaster, but it works, and it s a feel far unlike anything else you'll get on the westside. Escobar is an absolute jewel. Generations of families come here together, with very good reason.
