No longer even decent!
I've been going to Canter's on & off for over 50 years. What was once a pretty decent deli has evolved into an overpriced, deteriorating quality wannabe. The food is not good. There's no other way to put it. And it's too bad. If you want to complain, they'll laugh at you. The manager's act like they're doing you a favor by just seating you. A once good spot is now a "Beware" place.

The Best Deli in LA
Canter's corned beef is the best on the west coast. Pickles are the best ever. Don 't miss this Los Angeles landmark experience.

Not recommended
Confused service offering dry corned beef and overcooked kasha varnishkes missing the essential ingredient of fried onions. Never again!

Solid deli classics - order smart
If you stick to traditional Jewish deli classics, you can't go wrong. The corned beef and pastrami are first rate. The potato knishes are very good, and the blintzes are very decent. Be sure to hit up the bakery on the way out for the linzer tarts, rainbow cookies, and rye bread. If you try to get fancy and order something you know you shouldn't (Italian food in a Jewish deli? Meshugeneh!), and you'll be sorry.

The best corned beef and pickle in L. A.
I have tried many corned beef sandwiches and kosher pickles and this is the best I've had. The pickles are homemade and they fiz on your tongue from the garlic. The corned beef is lean, tender. The rye bread is great. We also like the mish mosh soup. They've raised there prices but so has everyone else. The service is decent. The atmosphere old but comfortable. There is no better corned beef and pickle.

They have lost the plot
I have been going to Canter's for 20 years, very easy when you live a couple of blocks walk away. But a couple of years ago the menu prices started rising, probably because they thought they could capitalize on the ridiculous local property values. It's about all that has changed in the past 2 decades. Service is still awful, the place horribly run-down and they continue to refuse to take American Express. Then last night my friend and I had a bland burger and fries each, 2 bottled beers apiece to wash it down and got a tab for $50. That is insane.

plain & over priced
Overpriced sandwiches, bland potato salad, not even good fries. But we did like the waitress. $10 for a sandwich which was nothing but plain bread & meat. Any sides you wanted were extra. Very disappointed.
