Bay Cities Italian Deli
Posted by J turner on 10/18/2014
The best all around experience for your money, large portions for a fair price. Compared to other new sandwich spots in the area bay cities is hands down the best. This place has been a solid goto spot since i was kid 35 years ago, the large godmother w/works& hot peppers! The meatball w/ provolone is always a big winner. The best however is to make your own pizza with their italian bread, just pick up some pizza sauce, pepperoni, fresh hot italian sausage, mozzarella, in their store and cook it up at home. Sweet! Also thank the city of sm for the bad congestion and horrible parking.

Authentic, Italian food. Smells like you have walked into an Italian dream. Huge variety of fresh and grocery items. They have everything you could desire from a deli and more.

So crowded that it was hard to get to the spot to pull #44. Especially painful since they were on #19. Too crowded to see items on the shelf behind all the waiting people. Wanted cannolis but they were out. We were there for so long that finally some more showed up. Any employee that I asked about things had such a thick accent (and it wasn't Italian) that I couldn't understand the syllable or two that they spurted out before they disappeared. Finally just bought a pre-made sandwich because they'd only made it to #36. It was nothing special. ($9). Cannolis were ok. Pistachio gelato wasnt very good. The bread was the best thing and its crust wasn't very crispy crunchy -- more chewy taffy like. Parking lot- hahahaha. Can't see a reason to go back. Someone who admired the place said it was very "East Coast". Just seemed like chaos.

We live close so have gone over the years but have mostly stopped going because the service is rude. Sure, the sandwiches are good but the local area has better options. Never again on my end.

The food is ok the service is not good specially the cashiers are impolite & they charge the customers for the bags so ridiculous !

I miss my hoagie shop in Philly, but this place is the closest you can get a sandwich from back east. The bread, prosciutto, & pepper shooters are excellent & the Godmother sandwich is amazing. There's usually quite a long wait, but it's well worth it!
