What's to love about this place?
So crowded that it was hard to get to the spot to pull #44. Especially painful since they were on #19. Too crowded to see items on the shelf behind all the waiting people. Wanted cannolis but they were out. We were there for so long that finally some more showed up. Any employee that I asked about things had such a thick accent (and it wasn't Italian) that I couldn't understand the syllable or two that they spurted out before they disappeared. Finally just bought a pre-made sandwich because they'd only made it to #36. It was nothing special. ($9). Cannolis were ok. Pistachio gelato wasnt very good. The bread was the best thing and its crust wasn't very crispy crunchy -- more chewy taffy like. Parking lot- hahahaha. Can't see a reason to go back. Someone who admired the place said it was very "East Coast". Just seemed like chaos.

They don't need your business
We live close so have gone over the years but have mostly stopped going because the service is rude. Sure, the sandwiches are good but the local area has better options. Never again on my end.

Best Italian sandwich in LA
I miss my hoagie shop in Philly, but this place is the closest you can get a sandwich from back east. The bread, prosciutto, & pepper shooters are excellent & the Godmother sandwich is amazing. There's usually quite a long wait, but it's well worth it!

The best Italian deli sandwiches in L.A.
Go where you will in L.A., but you will not find a better Italian sub than here. The Godmother with the Works is without a doubt the finest around...and I have eaten in my 50+ years in L.A. at Italian delis all over L.A., the Valley, and the San Gabriel area. No atmosphere, tables outside in front and by the parking lot, but who cares? You can't beat the prices...they are extremely fair. Even their pasta salads are great. We get here once a week and everytime we go the the Hollywood Bowl. Try it, you'll like it!!

Best Sandwich in LA
Really the best in LA! Don't expect great service, but they're fast and no other sandwich compares!
