Babalu

I live ten blocks from this Babalu and I always thought it looked neat so I was excited to give it a try. I went on a Saturday evening. It is not a big restaurant, we were early because we had plans later in the evening. We didn't have to wait to be seated. We waited forever however just to ask questions about some of the items on the menus. Our questions were met not with answers, but with attitude and then we had to wait again to place our order. We waited a very long time for our food (more than 45 minutes). There were still open tables so I think this was not because the kitchen was behind but because our server did not put the order I was glad we left plenty of time. After our food came it was as if we did not exist. We never got refills of water or asked how our food was or even offered anything else. I had to chase the waitress down for her to give us the bill and then she never came to pick it up! She mouthed off to me when I brought it to her! I have waited tables before. I generally tip 25-30%. I have never been treated like this. I would love to try more items on the menu but I will never go back. Don't wast your time. It isn't worth it.

Food is delicious. They do everything well.
