still wonderful
i am sad they moved, the atmosphere is NOT the same, but the food is JUST as wonderful as ever, and the service is ALWAYS sweet. Best soul food in LA!

disappointed
Being from the south, I was excited to try this place. The excitement dissipated quickly once the food arrived. The oxtails reminded me more of a jamaican dish than a southern one. They did not have chicken and dumplins available which was a big disappointment. The service was slower than a southern baptist preachers sunday sermon(if your from the south you know what I mean). The collards were too sweet for my liking, but the fried okra was just right. I would probably not go back just for okra though. If you are not from the south and have not had true southern food you may enjoy this place.

Slipping
I used to love eating at this restaurant as the food was well-prepared and abundant. However, the last few times I've gone, the meals are not up to par and the service has been erratic.

Great place for true southern food in LA
Great menu, huge plates, really good food for a very fair price. The staff is friendly and the food comes out fast. Their catfish is great, and their mac and cheese is amazing! Highly recommended for the Southern folks trapped in LA. I wasn't a big fan of their style of hushpuppies, but the fried okra was perfect.
