One of the Best in the city!
I LOVE the food at AOC more than i can say. I happen to have the relatively unique experience that i interned in their kitchen one summer after i finished cooking school myself. I have never experienced before or since a commitment to quality that strong. Just every single ingredient is amazing. Every block of butter is pulgra, the pistachios are from an organic farm up north, the salads make use of every perfectly ripe perfectly seasonal fruit and vegetable. And it all tastes that way. The food is exquisite. And she (susan goin) began the whole small plates movement that is everywhere today. I'm going for brunch there today! can't wait!

Food good ... overall experience unpleasant
The food here is good, esp the beet salad, the tart, and the skirt steak. (many other dishes are okay) Unfortunately the restaurant itself is a disaster due to "environmental factors." The seating is a cram-job to such extent that almost anywhere in the restaurant you feel like you're in a train terminal it is very, very loud and lastly, for whatever reason, the place seems to attract the dregs of society loud mouths, t-shirt wearing losers, really rude people. If this type of environment is appealing (or just doesn't bother you) by all means go. Again, the food was quite good. But the atmosphere was just so poor (and clearly supported by the management) that my friends and I will never go again. We could not wait to get out of there.
