    Best Indian food ever!

That was for sure the best indian food I ever tasted. The food and the tasted was so fresh, the Lamb was so tender and the fish melted in my mouth. I recommended Akbar in Santa Monica for everyone, great food and friendly service

    Tastiness

Best Chicken Tikka Masala Ever! You can pick how spicy you want it! Definitely will go back and recommend!

Pretty good but not the best

I've had crazy cravings for chicken tikka masala recently and have tried finding something comparable to the indian food i'm accustomed to in new york. I got takeout from akbar --- it was pretty good (spicy which i love) and the chicken was tender. It's not prepared the way i'm used to but it's alot better than alot of the chicken tikka masalas at some of the other indian restaurants in the santa monica/west la area. I'd eat here again but i'll continue to search for the perfect indian restaurant in la.

so so if you are indian

First off, as an Indian in LA it is somewhat difficult to find authentic indian cuisine outside of Artesia. In that context, akbar is nowhere near authentic but is rather a mix of californian/indian. On the plus side, the ingrediatnts are fresh but modified from real indian ingrediants (ex.: the paneer in the saag paneer is not real paneer but some other soft cheese). On the negative side, if you are Indian, you will find the food a bit bland. The mix of spices is just not there - they will make it hot but it is not spicy. With that being said, most of the people i know who are non-indian really enjoy the place. But if you are an Indian used to eating real indian food, this place will be somewhat of a let down.

    Delish!!

Might just be the best Indian food in town. The Chicken Tikka Masala was so tender and tthe sauce was velvety and rich. The Palak Paneer was perfectly seasoned and delicious...fabulous Naan and dal too!!
