Yesterday I called ahead to pick up the NY steak andthe Lobster Ravioli. They told me my order would be ready in 10 minutes. I arrived about 20 minutes later and was told to take a seat at the bar. I waited a few minutes and when I askd they said it was almost ready. From what I understood they had just started grilling my steak! I was dissatisfied about this and told the waitress who seemed to be the same person who had taken my phone order, she apologized but so onconvincingly and with an attitude that really demonstrated she did not care. I was sick with a fever and quite upset by this lack of respect fo a person's time. If they would have told me straight up that they were delayed and possibly offeed me drink at the bar at least could have considered them courteous. Once home, the ravioli taste was decent but the portionsize minimal. Regarding the steak, for $34 it certainly was not an amazing steak or anything and just medium sized with a small potatoe and carots side. Not worth the money for pick and I won't be going there for dinner either if they don't understand service.

Whenever someone asks me for a Marina del Rey dining recommendation, the first on my list is 12 Washington. Anything on the menu is good but my must try list includes the escargot appetizer, Long Island duck, the filet steak and any of the daily fish specials. The sides are not your typical boring steamed vegetables either. In season the have a mashed pea puree that's great. They will also prepare a custom side for you if it's not too busy and they have the item(s) in stock. There is a full bar with a great wine list and reasonably priced by the glass selections. Service is friendly and efficient - hot crusty rolls, great deserts. This is a non pretentious small but classy bistro steps from the ocean and the pier where locals stroll and visit on the sidewalk or at the bar. "12" as it’s known around here is a small place and I would recommend reservations during the weekend.
